Chihuahua-Style Salsa Verde is a classic Mexican-style salsa that is made with tomatillos, jalapenos, cilantro, and a few other ingredients. It's named after the region of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico, where it originated. This salsa is often served with tortilla chips or used as a condiment for tacos, burritos, and other Mexican-style foods. However, it's also versatile enough to be used in other dishes, such as scrambled eggs, baked potatoes, or grilled meats.

Instructions

1.Place the chopped tomatillos, jalapenos, lettuce, garlic, cilantro, and cumin in a blender or food processor, and pulse until everything is finely chopped.
2.In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat until it starts to foam.
3.Add the chopped onion and sauté for a few minutes until it starts to soften.
4.Add the tomatillo mixture to the skillet and stir well to combine.
5.Pour in the chicken broth and continue to cook for about 10 minutes, until the salsa has thickened and the flavors have melded together.
6.Season to taste with salt and pepper, and serve hot or cold with your favorite chips, tacos, or other foods.

PROS

Chihuahua-Style Salsa Verde is tangy, tart, and full of flavor, perfect for adding a zesty kick to any meal.

It’s also easy to make, and can be enjoyed hot or cold, giving you versatility in how you use it.

CONS

This salsa contains jalapenos, which can be a bit spicy for some people, as well as butter, which makes it higher in fat than some other types of sauces.

HEALTH & BENEFITS

Tomatillos, the main ingredient in this salsa, are a good source of vitamins C and K, as well as fiber.
They also contain antioxidants that may help to reduce inflammation and protect against cancer.
Cilantro, another key ingredient, contains compounds that may help to reduce blood sugar and fight inflammation.
However, some people may be genetically predisposed to dislike the taste of cilantro, so this salsa may not be for everyone.
