2 cups plain yogurt
5 cups water
3/4 cup chickpea flour
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/4 teaspoon whole cumin seed
1/4 teaspoon fennel seed
1/4 teaspoon whole nigella seeds

15 fenugreek seeds
2 whole dried hot red chilies
1/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
1 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup chickpea flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda

Instructions

1.In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the yogurt, water and 3/4 cup of chickpea flour until smooth
2.Heat the vegetable oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat
3.Add in the cumin, fennel, nigella, coriander, fenugreek seeds and dried chilies and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant
4.Stir in the turmeric and salt
5.Pour in the yogurt mixture and bring to a simmer
6.Cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally
7.Meanwhile, in a separate bowl, mix together the remaining chickpea flour, baking soda, salt and yogurt. Add enough water to make a firm, slightly sticky dough
8.Drop tablespoons of the dough into the simmering stew, cover and cook for about 10 minutes until the dumplings are cooked through. Drizzle with vegetable oil
9.Serve hot
