Ingredients

4 boneless skinless chicken breast halves
2 inches fresh ginger ( peeled )
8 cloves garlic
4 teaspoons water
1 cup plain yogurt
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 lemon , juice of
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/4 teaspoon ground mace
1/4 teaspoon grated nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon ground cardamom
salt & pepper
2 lbs ripe tomatoes ( seeded and finely chopped )
1/2 lb green bell pepper ( stemmed , seeded and chopped )
1/2 inch ginger ( peeled )

1/2 cup heavy cream
2 teaspoons honey
salt
1/4 teaspoon garam masala , spice mixture ( available in Indian or Specialty Markets )

Instructions

1.Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
2.To make the marinade, crush the ginger and garlic into a fine paste using a mortar and pestle. Add 4 teaspoons of water to the paste along with the yogurt, vegetable oil, lemon juice, cumin, mace, nutmeg, cardamom, salt, and pepper, and mix well.
3.Coat the chicken in the marinade and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
4.To make the sauce, put the tomatoes and green bell pepper in a food processor and pulse until it becomes a smooth paste.
5.Crush the ginger and garlic into a fine paste using a mortar and pestle. Add 2 teaspoons of water to the paste and mix.
6.In a large pan, melt the butter. Add the tomato and green pepper paste, ginger, garlic, honey, and garam masala and cook on medium heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
7.Add the chicken and its marinade to the pan, and cook for another 10-15 minutes on low heat or until the chicken is fully cooked.
8.Slowly stir in the heavy cream and let simmer for another 5 minutes. Serve hot with rice or naan bread.
