3 lbs skinless chicken , jointed
2 inches cinnamon sticks , broken up
6 green cardamoms
6 cloves

5 ounces plain yogurt
1 teaspoon garam masala
1/4 pint water
1 teaspoon salt
1 ounce coriander leaves , chopped
1 tablespoon fresh mint leaves , chopped
2 fresh green chilies , chopped

Instructions

1.In a pan, dry roast the cinnamon, cardamom, cloves, cumin seeds, dried red chilies, yellow split peas, cashew nuts and white poppy seeds until fragrant. Grind them into a fine powder and set aside.
2.In a separate pan, heat the butter and sauté the onions, ginger, and garlic until the onions are brown in color.
3.Add the chicken and cook until browned all over.
4.Add in the yogurt, garam masala, water, salt, and the ground spice mix prepared earlier and stir well.
5.Cover the pan and simmer until the chicken is cooked through.
6.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves, mint leaves, and green chilies before serving.
