Instructions

1.Making the Chiacchiere:
2.In a large bowl, combine flour, 5 tablespoons of white sugar, and pinch of salt. Mix well
3.Add 2 eggs, melted butter, olive oil, dry white wine, rum, and grated lemon zest to the bowl. Mix well until a dough is formed
4.Knead the dough on a floured surface for approximately 15 minutes
5.Roll out the dough until it is approximately 1/8 inch thick, then cut into 1.5-inch-wide strips, then cut again diagonally to cut strips into diamonds
6.Heat vegetable oil for frying in a frying pan over medium heat for approximately 3 minutes
7.Fry diamond strips in vegetable oil until it turns golden brown. Once cooked use a slotted spoon to transfer it to dry on paper towel
8.Making the Sanguinaccio:
9.In a large bowl, whisk 5 cups of sugar, cocoa powder, cinnamon, and cornstarch
10.In a saucepan, heat milk and vanilla extract over medium heat
11.Slowly whisk the dry mixture to the saucepan with milk, whisking constantly until the filling thickens
12.Whisk in unsweetened chocolate until it is completely melted
13.Allow it to cool
14.Serving:
15.Drizzle Sanguinaccio over the fried chiacchiere
16.Sprinkle with miniature semisweet chocolate chips and confectioners' sugar
