Ingredients

Spice Blend :
3/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 teaspoon ground thyme
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon onion powder
1/4 teaspoon white pepper
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
2 pounds shrimp , peeled and deveined
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
3 tablespoons butter
1/3 cup diced onion
1/3 cup diced green bell pepper
1/3 cup thinly sliced celery
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour , or as needed
1/2 cup diced tomatoes
1 3/4 cups chicken stock , or as needed
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
1 dash hot sauce , or more to taste
salt to taste
1/4 cup sliced green onions
2 cups cooked rice , or to taste

Instructions

1.Mix spice blend together in a small bowl.
2.Season shrimp with 1/2 teaspoon salt and 1 tablespoon of the spice blend, and toss to coat evenly.
3.Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat, and cook shrimp until lightly browned, about 1 minute per side.
4.Remove shrimp to a bowl and set aside.
5.Melt butter in the same pan over medium heat, and cook onion, bell pepper, and celery until softened, 5 to 7 minutes.
6.Sprinkle flour over the vegetables and stir until browned, 5 to 7 minutes.
7.Stir in diced tomatoes and chicken stock, and whisk until mixture is smooth.
8.Add Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and remaining spice blend and simmer the mixture over low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
9.Add cooked shrimp and heat through, about 2 minutes.
10.Season with salt to taste and garnish with green onions.
11.Serve over cooked rice.
