1 pinch salt
2 tablespoons semisweet chocolate chips ( optional )
2 tablespoons diced candied orange peel ( optional )
1/4 cup white sugar ( optional )
1/4 cup water ( optional )
1/4 cup chopped orange zest , or to taste ( optional )
1/4 cup crushed pistachios , or to taste ( optional )

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
2.In a large bowl, mix flour, butter, egg, Marsala wine, white sugar, baking powder, and salt until dough reaches a smooth consistency.
3.Shape the dough into a ball and wrap it in plastic wrap; refrigerate the dough for 30 minutes.
4.Roll out dough into a 14-inch circle and press it into a 9-inch tart pan with a removable bottom.
5.Use a whisk or electric mixer to beat together ricotta cheese, eggs, egg yolks, white sugar, vanilla extract, lemon zest, orange zest, and salt in another bowl until mixture is smooth.
6.Pour the filling into the prepared crust.
7.Optional: sprinkle semisweet chocolate chips and diced candied orange peel on top.
8.Bake the pie for 25 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake for another 25 minutes, or until pie is set with a few cracks on top.
9.Optional: soak the orange zest in boiled sugar water, let it cool before using.
10.Sprinkle crushed pistachios on top of the cooled pie. Enjoy!
