Ingredients

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon oil
1 teaspoon dry yeast
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 - 2 cups fresh low-fat milk , warm
2 tablespoons yoghurt
salt
Kulchas are a popular North Indian bread that are typically served with curries like butter chicken and chole. These soft, fluffy, and thick bread are made from all purpose flour, dry yeast, baking soda, oil, and yoghurt. The dough is allowed to rise for a couple of hours before being rolled into thick discs and cooked on a tawa or kadhai. Instructions

1.In a large bowl, add flour, salt and mix well
2.Then add in sugar, baking soda, oil, dry yeast, yoghurt and mix
3.Add milk gradually to make a soft dough
4.Cover the dough and let it proof for 2 hours
5.Punch the dough and knead for 5 minutes
6.Divide the dough into portions and roll them into thick disc
7.Heat a tawa or kadhai, and cook the kulchas on both sides till golden brown

PROS

Freshly made Kulchas are soft and delicious, and go well with a variety of curries, and can be a healthy alternative to store-bought naans.

Also, the dish is easy to make and requires few ingredients.

CONS

It can be challenging to make the dough initially as the mixture needs to be made in the right consistency.

Kulchas may not be available for sale at all places, so finding ingredients to make them at home could be a challenge.
