Ingredients

1 cup kabuli channa
1 large onion
1 1/2 tomatoes
1 inch ginger
3 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon garam masala
salt
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
4 tablespoons coriander leaves
2 tablespoons jaggery
1/2 cup potato ( optional )
1 teaspoon cumin seed
4 tablespoons oil
1 green chili pepper

Instructions

1.Soak the kabuli channa in enough water overnight.
2.Drain the water and put the channa in a pressure cooker with enough water.
3.Cook on medium-high heat for 15-20 minutes or until the channa is tender.
4.Finely chop the onion, tomato, ginger, garlic, and green chili pepper.
5.Take a pan, heat oil, and add cumin seeds. Wait for them to crackle.
6.Add chopped onion, sauté, and cook until the onion turns golden brown.
7.Add chopped ginger, garlic, and green chili pepper. Sauté well.
8.Add chopped tomato, turmeric, chili powder and cook for 3-4 minutes on medium flame.
9.Add garam masala and cook for a minute.
10.Add cooked channa, salt, and jaggery. Mix well. Cook for 5-7 minutes.
11.Add 1/4 cup water and cook for another 7-8 minutes on low heat.
12.Turn off the flame and garnish with freshly chopped coriander leaves. Serve hot.
