6 medium onions , thinly sliced

1 sourdough baguette , sliced on the bias

Instructions

1.Heat the extra virgin olive oil and butter in a large pot over medium heat.

4.Add the cracked black pepper, thyme, and red wine to the pot, stirring to combine.

6.Add the water and beef bouillon granules to the pot, stirring until the granules are dissolved.
7.Increase heat to high and bring the mixture to a boil. Once boiling, reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20 minutes.
8.While the soup simmers, preheat your oven to 375°F.
9.In a small bowl, combine the shredded Swiss cheese, mayonnaise, and cracked black pepper. Mix until well combined.
10.Slice the sourdough baguette on the bias and place on a baking sheet. Brush with extra virgin olive oil and sprinkle the fresh basil on top.
