Instructions

1.In a medium saucepan, combine water, cinnamon sticks, and sugar. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves, stirring occasionally.
2.Reduce heat to low, and simmer for about 15 minutes.
3.In a large, deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
4.Fry the bread slices in the oil until golden brown on both sides.
5.Remove bread from the frying pan and place it in a 9 x 13 inch baking dish.
6.Add raisins, pecans, and onion to the saucepan with the cinnamon syrup. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
7.Pour the cinnamon syrup over the bread slices in the baking dish and top with slices of Cheddar Cheese
8.Bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) for 30 minutes or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
9.Serve warm and enjoy!
