Ingredients

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 large onion , diced
3 garlic cloves , minced
10 medium cremini mushrooms , stemmed and finely chopped
walnuts , halves ground
1 1/4 cups vegetable broth
1/2 cup dry white wine
1 tablespoon vegatarian broth seasoning ( beef style- '' no beef '' recommended )
1 teaspoon liquid smoke
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon dried savory
1/2 teaspoon ground sage
2 bay leaves
salt and pepper , to taste
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon vegan worcestershire sauce ( optional )
3/4 cup russet potato , grated , peeled
pastry dough ( for 1 double 9-inch pie crust )
Tourtière is a traditional meat pie dish from Quebec, Canada, usually enjoyed during the winter months. This vegan version swaps out the meat for a flavorful combination of mushrooms, onions, garlic, and a touch of liquid smoke to create a rich and satisfying filling. Instructions

1.In a large skillet over medium heat, warm up the olive oil.
2.Add the onions and garlic, and sauté for about 5 minutes, or until the onions are translucent.
3.Add the chopped mushrooms, and cook for another 5 minutes or until softened.
4.Add the walnuts, vegetable broth, white wine, vegetarian broth seasoning, liquid smoke, thyme, savory, sage, bay leaves, salt, pepper, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg to the skillet. Stir well to combine.
5.Reduce the heat to low, and cover the skillet. Let the mixture simmer for about 20 minutes or until most of the liquid has evaporated.
6.Remove the bay leaves from the skillet, and stir in the vegan Worcestershire sauce (optional) and grated potato.
7.Preheat your oven to 375 degrees F. Roll out the pastry dough, and place it into a 9-inch pie dish.
8.Pour the Tourtière filling into the pie crust, and smooth out the top.
9.Bake the Tourtière for about 40-45 minutes, or until the pastry crust is golden brown.
