Instructions

1.Dissolve yeast in warm water with 1/4 teaspoon of sugar. Let stand for about 10 minutes.
2.Add flour to a large mixing bowl, create a well in the center, and pour in yeast, beaten eggs, salt, sugar, oil or margarine, milk or water, and shortening. Mix ingredients until dough is formed. Knead dough on a floured surface for a few minutes.
3.Let dough rise for about 1 hour.
4.For the filling, shred cabbage and place into a large colander. Toss cabbage with salt until it begins to wilt. Let drain for about 30 minutes.
5.Melt butter in a large skillet and add cabbage. Cook for about 20 minutes or until cabbage is tender.

7.Roll pastry dough into small rounds.
8.Spoon cabbage into each round, fold over, and crimp the edges.
9.Place pasties onto a greased baking sheet.
