Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 370F. Grease and flour two 8” cake pans.
2.In a large bowl, whisk together flour, white sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and cloves.
3.Add buttermilk, brown sugar, shortening, and eggs. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.
4.Pour the batter into pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
5.In a heavy saucepan, melt butter and add brown sugar. Boil for 2 minutes on medium heat. Stir in evaporated milk and bring to a boil. Add powdered sugar and stir continuously until smooth.
6.Pour the frosting over the cake and let it cool down.
