Ingredients

2 lbs sirloin or 2 lbs filet of beef
1 onion , chopped into small pieces
1 lb puff pastry
6 ounces chicken pate
1 egg
3 ounces butter
6 ounces button mushrooms
black pepper ( course ground )

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 375°F.
2.Place the chopped onion and button mushrooms into a frying pan and fry for 5 minutes.
3.Cut the beef into small cubes and season with black pepper.
4.Add the seasoned beef to the frying pan with the onion and mushrooms and fry until brown.
5.Roll out the puff pastry and line an 8 inch pie dish.
6.Fill the pie dish with the beef and mushroom mixture. Spread the chicken pate on top of the beef mixture.
7.Cover the pie dish with the remaining puff pastry. Brush the top with the beaten egg to glaze.
8.Make a small hole in the centre of the pastry to allow steam to escape.
9.Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and cooked through.
