Ingredients

1 lb yukon gold potatoes or 1 lb other yellow-fleshed potato , peeled
4 cups medium broccoli florets
1 leek , white part only , thinly sliced
1/2 cup low-fat milk
salt & freshly ground black pepper
4 teaspoons unsalted butter
1/2 teaspoon ground mace
Broccoli smashed potatoes are a combination of two timeless sides that go great together. Instructions

1.Put the potatoes in a large pot and add enough water to cover the potatoes by an inch or so. Bring to a boil over high heat and then reduce to a simmer until the potatoes are knife-tender (10-15 minutes).
2.Drain the potatoes in a colander and then return them to the pot. Add the broccoli, leek, milk, salt, black pepper, and butter. Use a potato masher to smash the potatoes until they're crushed into small pieces and the broccoli and leek are evenly mixed in.
3.Add the mace and stir the mixture together.
4.Serve the smashed potatoes hot and enjoy!
