Bratapfel With Vanilla Sauce is a popular German dessert typically made in the winter months. It is made by stuffing apples with a mixture of nuts, raisins, honey, and cinnamon and baking them until they’re tender. The vanilla sauce adds a flavorful twist and a creamy texture to the dessert.

Instructions

.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
.Core the apples and remove part of the top to create a hole for the filling. Place the apples on a baking dish.
.Combine the chopped walnuts, raisins, apple jelly, honey, cinnamon, and butter in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until everything is melted and blended together.
.Spoon the mixture into the apple's center, filling up the hole.
.Bake the apples in the oven for 30 to 40 minutes until they are tender.
.For the vanilla sauce, combine egg yolks, sugar, vanilla sugar, and cornstarch in a medium-size bowl. Mix until it gets foamy.
.In a small saucepan, heat the milk and vanilla pod over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Remove the vanilla pod.
.Slowly pour the warm milk into the egg mixture while stirring constantly.
.Return the sauce mixture to the saucepan and cook it over low heat until it thickens, stirring constantly. Reduce the heat and simmer it for a few more minutes.
.Remove from the heat and let it cool a bit, then spoon the sauce over the warm apples. Serve immediately and enjoy!
