Ingredients

2 onions , thickly sliced
3 cups water , or as needed
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 slice white bread
1 cup milk
2 pounds lean ground beef
1 tablespoon curry powder
2 eggs
1 tablespoon white sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon turmeric ( optional )
2 tablespoons vinegar
3 tablespoons chutney
6 almonds
1/2 cup raisins
4 bay leaves

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2.In a large skillet, cook onions in water until tender. Drain and set aside.
3.Soak bread in milk. Squeeze out excess milk and set aside.
4.In the same skillet, cook beef until browned. Add curry powder.
5.In a small bowl, beat eggs and sugar.
6.Combine onion mixture, bread mixture, beef mixture, egg mixture, salt, black pepper, turmeric, vinegar, and chutney. Mix well.
7.Pour mixture into greased casserole dish. Press almonds into top. Sprinkle raisins over.
8.Place bay leaves on top.
9.Bake for 30-45 minutes.
