Ingredients

1 medium head cauliflower ( bloemkool )
1 cup water
1/4 cup butter
1/4 cup flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 cups milk
1/2 - 1 cup cheese , grated ( optional )
Bloemkool or Cauliflower is a very popular vegetable in the Netherlands and is often enjoyed as a side dish or a main course. This Bloemkool recipe is a creamy, cheesy cauliflower dish that makes a comforting meal in the cooler months of the year. Instructions

1.Clean and cut the cauliflower head into medium sized florets.
2.In a deep pan, add water and cauliflower florets and boil the cauliflower for 4-5 minutes until tender.
3.Remove the cooked cauliflower from the pan and set aside.
4.In the same pan, melt the butter over medium heat until melted.
5.Add flour, salt, and nutmeg to the butter and whisk until smooth.
6.Gradually add in the milk, whisking constantly until the mixture is smooth and creamy.
7.Add the cooked cauliflower back into the pan and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes.
8.Stir in 1/2 to 1 cup of grated cheese, if desired, until melted and fully incorporated.
9.Serve hot and enjoy!
