Ingredients

1/2 1/2 lb oyster mushrooms or 1/2 lb your favourite mushroom
1 tablespoon butter
3 tablespoons olive oil
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 lbs stewing beef , cut into 1 to 11/2-inch
1 cup brewed coffee ( your favorite )
3/4 cup water
2 garlic cloves , minced
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
3 sprigs fresh thyme ( or 1 tsp/5 mL dried )
2 bay leaves
2 teaspoons dried oregano leaves
2 -3 cups baby carrots
2 -3 cups peeled white pearl onions
fresh ground black pepper
Bistro Braised Beef With Shiitake and Pearl Onions is a classic French dish that features tender and succulent pieces of beef that are slow-cooked to perfection in a flavorful coffee-infused sauce. Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2.In a bowl, mix the flour and salt together and coat the beef well with this mixture.
3.Heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil and the butter in a large ovenproof casserole dish over medium heat.
4.Brown the beef in batches in the casserole dish and transfer it to a plate.
5.Add the garlic and mushrooms to the casserole dish and cook until they are lightly browned, then set them on the plate with the beef.
6.Add the coffee, water, brown sugar, red wine vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, bay leaves, oregano, baby carrots, pearl onions, and black pepper.
7.Bring the mixture to a boil, stir until well combined, then cover the dish with a lid and place it in your preheated oven for approximately 2 1/2 hours.
8.Check the dish periodically and stir it.
9.Serve hot! Enjoy!
