Ingredients

1 cup tomato sauce
2 stalks celery , diced
1 carrot , diced
1 ounce dried porcini mushrooms
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup marsala wine
1/2 cup water , hot
4 veal shanks
1/2 cup flour
salt , to taste
fresh ground black pepper , to taste
3 -4 tablespoons olive oil
Biba's Osso Bucco is a classic Italian dish that's been made by generations of home cooks. The recipe calls for veal shanks that are slow-cooked in a flavorful tomato sauce, along with diced celery, carrot, and rehydrated porcini mushrooms. Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 350°F.
2.While the oven heats up, prepare the vegetables. Clean and dice the celery and carrot into small pieces.
3.Soak the dried porcini mushrooms in hot water for 10-15 minutes.
4.Combine the tomato sauce, chicken broth, marsala wine and hot water in a bowl.
5.Coat each veal shank with flour thoroughly on both sides.
6.Season with salt and black pepper.
7.Heat 3-4 tablespoons of olive oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat.
8.When hot, add the veal shanks and sauté for 3-4 minutes on each side or until browned.
9.Remove the browned veal shanks from the skillet and place them in an oven-safe container.
10.Add the celery, carrot, and mushrooms to the skillet and sauté for 2-3 minutes.
11.Pour the tomato sauce mixture into the skillet and stir until combined.
12.Pour the tomato sauce mixture over the veal shanks in the oven-safe container.
13.Cover the container with foil and bake for 2 hours.
14.Remove from oven and let rest for 10-15 minutes before serving.
