Ingredients

2 lbs firm white fish , cut into bite-sized pieces ( I used cod )
3/4 teaspoon ground turmeric
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons canola oil
3/4 cup onion , finely chopped
1 teaspoon fresh ginger , grated and peeled
1 garlic clove , minced
1 indian bay leaf
1/4 cup water
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 cup plain yogurt

Instructions

3.In a mixing bowl, combine the fish pieces with turmeric and salt. Let it marinate for 10 minutes.

5.Add grated ginger, minced garlic, and bay leaf, and fry for another 2 minutes.
6.Add the ground spice mix and fry for about a minute.
7.Add the marinated fish pieces, water, salt, and sugar, and stir to coat well. Cover the pan and cook on medium heat for 5-7 minutes until the fish is fully cooked.
8.Finally, add the yogurt and mix gently, taking care not to break the fish pieces. Turn off heat and let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
