Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs boneless beef chuck roast
2 tablespoons shortening
1 can mushroom beef gravy
1 cup tomato juice
1/4 cup dry onion soup mix
1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
4 medium potatoes ( peeled )
2 -3 carrots
2 -3 cloves minced garlic

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350F.
2.Heat the shortening in a Dutch oven or casserole over medium heat.
3.Add beef to the Dutch oven or casserole and brown on all sides.
4.Mix on a separate bowl the mushroom beef gravy, tomato juice, dry onion soup mix and prepared horseradish together then pour it over the browned beef.
5.Add the garlic, potatoes and carrots to the Dutch Oven or casserole.
6.Cover the Dutch oven or casserole and bake for about 3 hours.
