Ingredients

1 lb lean ground beef
2 teaspoons dried oregano or 2 teaspoons marjoram
1 tablespoon pitted black olives , finely chopped
1 -2 tablespoon sunflower oil
1 pint prepared gravy or 1 pint hot beef stock
2 tablespoons red currant jelly or 2 tablespoons cranberry sauce
4 tablespoons double cream or 4 tablespoons creme fraiche
12 ounces tagliatelle pasta noodles ( fresh or dried )
freshly chopped sage leaf ( to garnish )
Beef meatballs with red currant sauce is a classic dish that is loved by many. These hearty meatballs are made with lean ground beef, oregano or marjoram, and chopped black olives. Instructions

1.Preheat your oven to 220°C/200°C Fan/Gas 7/425°F.
2.In a large bowl, add the ground beef, oregano or marjoram, and chopped olives. Season with salt and black pepper.
3.Mix together thoroughly, then shape into 12 meatballs.
4.Heat the sunflower oil in a frying pan and brown the meatballs.
5.Transfer the meatballs to a baking dish and pour over the prepared gravy or hot beef stock.
6.Bake in the preheated oven for around 15-20 minutes or until the meatballs are cooked through.
7.While the meatballs are cooking, make the red currant sauce. In a small saucepan, heat the red currant jelly or cranberry sauce until melted.
8.Stir in the double cream or creme fraiche and warm through.
9.Cook the tagliatelle noodles according to package instructions. Check for seasoning and adjust as needed.
10.Remove the meatballs from the oven and serve with the cooked tagliatelle and red currant sauce. Garnish with chopped sage leaves.
