1 teaspoon almond extract

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9x13 inch baking pan.
2.In a small saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter or margarine over low heat.
3.Stir in 1/4 cup sugar, 2 tablespoons honey, and 2 tablespoons milk. Cook over medium heat, stirring, until the mixture comes to a boil.
4.Remove from heat and stir in the chopped almonds and almond extract.
5.Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared pan and set aside.
6.In a large bowl, cream 1/2 cup firm butter or margarine and 1/2 cup sugar until light and fluffy.
7.Beat in 1 egg.
8.Sift together 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamed mixture and beat until dough forms.
9.Drop the dough by spoonfuls onto the almond mixture. Spread the dough evenly over the almond mixture.
10.Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden. Cool before cutting into bars.
