300 g full fat soft cheese ( a creamy type is best )
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 unwaxed lemon , grated zest & juice of
2 teaspoons creamed horseradish
10 slices toasted whole wheat bread , cut into triangles ( or toasted melba )
1 lemon , cut into thin wedges

Instructions

1.Start by preparing 2 bowls with equal parts of softened butter and full-fat soft cheese; this will be your base.
2.Divide the smoked mackerel fillets evenly, flaking them and mixing them with the cheese and butter in one of the bowls. Add the creamed horseradish, lemon juice, and lemon zest, stirring everything until smooth. Spread this mixture on the bottom of your serving dish or loaf pan, using a spatula to smooth it out.
3.Mix the other bowl with the golden roast and good-quality smoked salmon slices, tomato ketchup, chopped dill, cayenne pepper, and more lemon juice. Spread this mix on top of the mackerel layer, again using a spatula to make sure it's even.
4.Let the pate chill in the fridge for at least 2 hours, or until it's firm.
