Bavarian Potato Leek Soup is a classic German dish that is perfect for cold winter evenings. This soup is thick and creamy, with a rich potato flavor that is balanced out by the delicate sweetness of the leeks. The addition of heavy cream and butter makes it extra indulgent and satisfying. It is often served with freshly baked bread and a side salad, but it's also hearty enough to be a complete meal on its own. This recipe is easy to make and can be customized to your liking by adjusting the seasonings to taste.

Instructions

1.Melt the butter in a large pot over medium heat and sauté the leeks until they are tender and slightly browned.
2.Add the onions and continue sautéing until they are translucent.
3.Add the diced potatoes, beef stock, and salt to the pot.
4.Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat and cover the pot. Allow the soup to simmer until the potatoes are cooked through.
5.Puree the soup in batches using a blender or food processor.
6.Return the pureed soup to the pot and add the half-and-half cream, heavy cream, white pepper, and marjoram (if desired). Simmer the soup for a few more minutes until it is hot throughout, but do not boil again.
