Ingredients

6 -8 apples ( uniform size )
4 tablespoons raisins
4 tablespoons rum
6 tablespoons chopped walnuts
3 tablespoons brown sugar
1 cup white wine ( up to 1.5 cups )
1 ounce butter
Baked Apples or Bratapfel is originally a German recipe that is commonly made in winter. The dish is simple, yet warming, gooey, delicious, and comforting. It has apples filled with sweet and nutty raisins and walnuts which are then baked to perfection and finished with a drizzle of rum. As the apples bake, the filling turns flavoursome and soft, and the aroma of rum will fill your space. It is a perfect recipe for entertaining as it is easy to make and can be prepared ahead of time. Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 180C degrees.
2.Wash the apples. Cut off the tops and then using an apple corer, remove the core. Then create a deep hollow, remove some apple pulp to make space for the filling.
3.In a bowl, mix the raisins with the rum. Add walnuts and brown sugar, then mix everything.
4.Using a spoon, fill the apple cavities with the mixture.
5.Stand the apples in an ovenproof dish.
6.Pour white wine over the apples then dot them with butter.
7.Bake in an oven for around 30-40 minutes.
8.Let cool for 5 minutes at the room temperature before serving.
