Ingredients

1 small onion , diced
1 1/2 tablespoons butter
1 lb ground lamb ( I use lean ground beef adding olive oil if I feel more fat is needed )
1/2 tablespoon baharat , spice mix
1 tablespoon tomato paste
sea salt , to taste
fresh ground black pepper , to taste
1/4 cup pine nuts
10 medium yellow potatoes ( for best flavour , you can use white )
1 can tomato sauce ( If you want more sauce add more but we like to serve it with Balkan thick yogurt )
1 cup chicken stock ( I use my own homemade )

Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 375°F.
2.In a large skillet, sauté onions with butter for a few minutes on medium heat, until slightly softened.
3.Add ground lamb (or beef) and baharat spice mix, cooking until the meat is browned and cooked through.
4.Add tomato paste, salt, pepper, and pine nuts, stirring until combined.
5.Peel the potatoes and cut them in half. Scoop out a small cavity in the center of each potato half, making sure not to go all the way through.
6.Fill the potato cavities with the lamb mixture.
7.Place the stuffed potatoes in a baking dish, spooning tomato sauce over the potatoes to cover.
8.Pour chicken stock into the baking dish and cover tightly with foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
9.Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes.
10.Serve hot with a dollop of Balkan yogurt on top.
