Ingredients

1/4 cup water
2 ounces butter
3/4 cup milk
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 eggs
1 very ripe banana , mashed
oil
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 - 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Churros originated in Spain and are a popular snack or dessert item all around the world. They are a type of fried dough pastry, normally dusted with sugar or cinnamon sugar. Churros are commonly served with hot chocolate or dulce de leche sauce for dipping. In this recipe, we added a ripe banana to the batter to give it a delicious flavor and pack some nutrition. These banana churros are great as a snack, party food, or dessert and can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature. Easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser!

Instructions

1.Combine water, butter, and milk in a saucepan. Heat over medium-high heat until butter is melted and mixture is simmering.
2.Add flour and baking powder, and stir well until a smooth dough forms.
3.Remove from heat and let it cool for about 5 minutes.
4.Add eggs one at a time, stirring well after each addition. Add the mashed banana and beat the mixture until smooth.
5.Heat the oil in a large pot over medium heat. The oil should be about 375°F.
6.Fill a piping bag with star tip nozzle with the churro dough. Pipe the dough into the hot oil, cutting off the dough with scissors.
7.Fry until golden brown, turning occasionally about 2-3 minutes.
8.Once done, transfer the churros to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
9.In a shallow dish, mix the sugar and cinnamon together. Roll each churro in the sugar mixture until fully coated.
10.Serve immediately, and enjoy!
