Ingredients

1 1/2 lbs okra
6 teaspoons vegetable oil
1 onion , chopped fine
6 tomatoes , peeled , chopped
1 lb beef , ground
1 cup stock
2 cloves garlic , crushed
1 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoons plain yogurt
3 teaspoons sour cream
1/2 teaspoon white pepper
1 tomatoes , thinly sliced
1 lemon , thinly sliced
Bamia is a classic Middle Eastern dish that has been enjoyed for centuries. It is typically made with lamb or beef and okra, which is a vegetable that is popular in many parts of the world. Instructions

1.Wash and trim the okra, and cut them into medium-sized pieces.
2.Heat 4 teaspoons of oil in a large frying pan and fry the onion and tomatoes for 2-3 minutes, stirring frequently.
3.In another pan, heat the remaining 2 teaspoons of oil and brown the ground beef over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally.
4.Add the garlic, salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper to the beef mixture and cook for another minute, then add the stock and bring to a boil. Simmer for 10 minutes.
5.Add the okra to the pan with the onion and tomatoes, season with salt and pepper to taste, and cook for a further 10 minutes.
6.Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
7.Add the beef mixture to the okra and stir to combine.
8.Transfer everything to an oven-safe dish and top with sliced tomatoes and lemon.
9.Bake in the oven for 30-40 minutes until the beef is cooked through and the okra is tender.
