Ingredients

1 liter fresh milk
1/2 kg semolina ( we call it `` rava '' in Hindi )
200 g butter
500 g sugar
1 liter water
2 teaspoons orange rind
4 cups vermicelli
1 cup mixed nuts , chopped
vanilla essence , as required
Baklava is a traditional Indian dessert made with milk, sugar, and semolina. It is a popular dish in India and is mostly served during festivals and special occasions. Baklava has a unique syrupy taste and a creamy, nutty flavor, which makes it a delightful treat.

Instructions

1.In a deep-bottomed pan, boil fresh milk until it reduces to half its original quantity.
2.In another pan, dry roast semolina until golden brown and set aside.
3.In a pan, melt butter and add sugar, water, and orange rind to make sugar syrup. Cook for 10 minutes until a thick syrup forms.
4.Add roasted semolina to the milk and mix well. Cook for 5 minutes, then add vermicelli and mixed nuts, and cook for another 5 minutes. Add vanilla essence and mix well.
5.Grease a baking tray with butter and pour the milk mixture into the tray. Let it cool.
6.Preheat the oven to 180°C and bake the tray for 15-20 minutes.
7.Let it cool for 30 minutes, then cut into diamond-shaped pieces. Pour hot sugar syrup over the pieces.
8.Let it cool and serve.
