Ingredients

2 cups chopped pecans
1 cup chopped blanched almond

18 sheets phyllo dough

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 350°F.

4.Melt the butter and brush a 9x13-inch baking pan with some of it.
5.Unfold the phyllo dough and place it on a clean, dry surface. Drape a damp kitchen towel over the dough to keep it moist.
6.Place 2 sheets of phyllo dough in the prepared pan and brush them with melted butter.
7.Repeat layering with 2 sheets of phyllo dough and melted butter until all the dough is used.
8.Spread the nut mixture over the phyllo dough in the pan.
9.Cover with the remaining phyllo dough, brushing each layer with melted butter as before.
10.Using a sharp knife, cut the top layer of phyllo dough into squares or diamonds.
11.Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until golden brown.
12.While the Baklava is baking, combine the honey and water in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until the mixture comes to a boil.
13.Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool.
14.When the Baklava is done, remove it from the oven and evenly pour the cooled honey syrup over it. Let it cool before serving.
