Ingredients

1 cup fresh breadcrumb ( I used french bread )
3/4 cup milk
6 tablespoons unsalted butter
4 shallots , minced ( I used red onion )
2 garlic cloves , minced
1 teaspoon caraway seed , toasted and ground
kosher salt
fresh ground white pepper
1 lb ground beef ( I used only beef )
1 lb ground pork
1 large egg
3 tablespoons fresh parsley , chopped , plus
extra fresh parsley , for garnishing dish
1 tablespoon fresh dill , chopped ( I used dried ) or 1/2 teaspoon dried dill ( I used dried )
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups chicken broth
3/4 cup sour cream
1/4 cup lingonberry preserves or 1/4 cup red currant jam
Baked Swedish Meatballs are a classic Scandinavian dish that have been popular for centuries. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
2.In a large bowl, mix together the breadcrumbs and milk.
3.In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the shallots and garlic and cook until soft. Add the caraway seed and toast for 1-2 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.
4.Add the shallot mixture, beef, pork, egg, parsley, and dill to the breadcrumb mixture. Mix well.
5.Form the mixture into 1 1/4-inch balls and place on a baking sheet.
6.Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.
7.In a large skillet, melt 4 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and sour cream until smooth. Stir in the lingonberry preserves or red currant jam and season with salt and pepper.
8.Add the meatballs to the skillet and simmer for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the meatballs are fully cooked and the sauce has thickened.
