2 cups elbow macaroni | |
3 tbsp butter | |
3 tbsp all-purpose flour | |
1/2 tsp salt | |
1/4 tsp black pepper | |
1/4 tsp ground mustard | |
1/4 tsp cayenne pepper | |
2 cups milk | |
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese | |
1/2 cup panko bread crumbs |
1. | Preheat oven to 350°F. |
2. | Cook macaroni according to package directions. |
3. | In a separate pot, melt butter over medium heat. |
4. | Add flour, salt, black pepper, ground mustard, and cayenne pepper, whisking until mixture is smooth and bubbly. |
5. | Gradually add milk, whisking constantly until mixture is smooth. |
6. | Stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted. |
7. | Add cooked macaroni to cheese sauce and stir to combine. |
8. | Pour mixture into a greased baking dish. |
9. | Top with panko bread crumbs. |
10. | Bake for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly. |
