Ingredients

7 ounces sweetened condensed milk
7 ounces greek natural yoghurt
1 pinch ground cardamom
1 tablespoon chopped pistachios
1 tablespoon raisins , soaked in warm water for 10 minutes , drained
6 paper baking cups
4 ripe figs
2 tablespoons sugar
2 whole cloves
1 inch cinnamon sticks or 1 inch cassia , rind
1 star anise
1 lemon , rind of
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon pistachios , chopped
Baked Joghurt with Figs in Syrup, also known as Bhapa Doi E Gooler Mishti, is a popular dessert in Bengali cuisine. This dish is a unique way to enjoy yoghurt, a staple in Bengali cooking. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 160C/140C fan/gas 3.
2.In a bowl, mix together the sweetened condensed milk and yoghurt.
3.Add the cardamom, pistachios, and raisins to the yoghurt mixture.
4.Spoon the mixture into paper cups, filling each about 2/3 full. Place the cups in a baking dish.
5.Pour boiling water into the dish until it comes about halfway up the sides of the cups.
6.Bake for 20-25 minutes until set.
7.Meanwhile, make the fig syrup. Place the sugar, cinnamon, cloves, star anise, and lemon rind in a saucepan.
8.Add enough water to cover the ingredients and bring to a boil.
9.Lower the heat and simmer for 5-8 minutes or until you have a thin syrup consistency. Remove from heat.
10.Cut the figs into quarters, add them to the syrup and bring back to the boil.
11.Add lemon juice to taste. Remove from heat.
12.Once the yoghurt is set, remove from the oven and cool to room temperature. Top each cup with fig quarters and drizzle with fig syrup.
13.Sprinkle with pistachios.
14.Enjoy!
