The addition of blueberries adds a pop of color and flavor to the dish. It is perfect for a cozy weekend brunch or special occasion breakfast. The recipe was popularized by the television series Pioneer Woman hosted by Ree Drummond.

Instructions

1.Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with butter. Tear the bread into chunks, or cut into cubes, and evenly distribute in the dish.
2.Crack the eggs in a big bowl. Whisk together the eggs, milk, cream, sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla. Pour evenly over the bread. Cover the dish tightly and store in the fridge for several hours or overnight.
3.In a separate bowl, mix the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Add nutmeg if desired. Add butter and cut into the dry mixture until the mixture resembles fine pebbles. Store in a Ziploc in the fridge.
4.When you're ready to bake the casserole, preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Remove the casserole from the fridge and sprinkle the crumb mixture over the top. (If you're using blueberries, sprinkle them on before the crumb mixture.)
5.Bake for 45 minutes for a softer, more bread pudding texture or for 1 hour or more for a firmer, crisper texture.
6.Scoop out individual portions. Top with butter and drizzle warm syrup over the top.
