Ingredients

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 1/4 cups butter
2 cups granulated sugar
4 eggs , separated
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 -4 tablespoons cocoa powder ( optonal , taste batter and see if it 's chocolaty enough )
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 cups evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
4 egg yolks , slightly beaten
3/4 cup butter
1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
2 cups sweetened flaked coconut
2 cups chopped pecans ( try toasting them slightly-yum ! )
B. B. King's German Chocolate Cake may have originated in the South German Bakery in Texas, but it has since become a beloved classic across the United States. Named after the legendary blues guitarist, this dessert is truly fit for a king. The combination of rich chocolate cake and indulgent coconut-pecan frosting creates a decadent flavor and texture that is hard to resist. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease 3 9-inch round cake pans.
2.Melt 1 cup of chocolate chips in a double boiler or in the microwave for 30-second increments, stirring in between each increment, until fully melted. Set aside.
3.In a large mixing bowl, cream 1 1/4 cups of butter and 2 cups of granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
4.Beat in 4 egg yolks one at a time, then add 1 tsp vanilla extract and the melted chocolate.
5.In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 cups of flour, 1 tsp of baking soda, and 1/2 tsp of salt.
6.Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with 1 cup of buttermilk.
7.In another large mixing bowl, beat the 4 egg whites until stiff peaks form. Gently fold the egg whites into the batter.
8.Divide the batter evenly between the 3 prepared cake pans and smooth the top.
9.Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Cool on a wire rack.
10.For the frosting, combine 1 1/2 cups of evaporated milk, 1 1/2 cups of granulated sugar, 4 slightly beaten egg yolks, and 3/4 cup of butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture has thickened and turned a light caramel color. Remove from heat and stir in 1 1/2 tsp of vanilla, 2 cups of sweetened coconut, and 2 cups of chopped pecans.
11.Allow the frosting to cool for a few minutes before spreading between the layers of the cake and on top.
