Ingredients

1 envelope dry yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1 1/4 - 2 cups warm water
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vegetable oil
2 cups ground walnuts
3 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons cinnamon
Atayef Mehshi is a traditional dessert in Lebanon. It's a little different from the Middle Eastern version as it's fried instead of baked. The dish comprises pancakes filled with cinnamon and walnut and drizzled with rosewater syrup. It's known for being sweet, flavorful, and incredibly indulgent. Instructions

1.To make the dough, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water. Let it sit for 5 minutes to activate the yeast.
2.Add flour and vegetable oil, mix until smooth.
3.Cover the dough and let it rest for 30 minutes.
4.To make the filling, mix ground walnuts, sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
5.After 30 minutes, divide the dough into small balls and roll each one into a small pancake.
6.Fill the center of each pancake with the walnut mixture and fold over the dough to form a half-moon shape.
7.Seal the edges by pressing on them lightly.
8.Fry the filled pancakes in vegetable oil over medium heat for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown.
9.To make the rosewater syrup, mix sugar and water in a saucepan and heat until the sugar dissolves completely. Add rose water and let it simmer for a few minutes.
10.Drizzle the syrup over the top of the pancakes and serve.
