Ingredients

3 cups prepared sushi rice
200 g mini asparagus , trimmed
2 toasted nori , halved and cut into strips
200 g sliced smoked salmon , cut into 4cm squares
pickled ginger ( optional )
soy sauce ( optional )
wasabi ( optional )
Asparagus Salmon Battleships with Sushi Rice are an Asian-inspired dish which is perfect for those looking to try something new. Instructions

1.Cook sushi rice according to package
2.Cut off the bottom third of the asparagus stems. Bring a pan of salted water to the boil, add the asparagus, then cook for 2 mins until crisp but tender. Drain well and plunge into iced water to chill quickly. Drain on kitchen paper.
3.Make Sushi Rice balls roughly the size of your palm.
4.Wrap the nori around the rice so that the rice is in the bottom third of the nori. Place a piece of salmon on top of the rice.
5.Use one piece of asparagus to wrap the salmon.
6.Add a little soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger as an accompaniment, if you like.
7.Enjoy!
