Ingredients

1 cup clarified butter ( samneh , I have always used just sweet butter without clarifying )
1 cup icing sugar , sifted
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
blanched slivered almond , to garnish ( loz )
additional icing sugar , for dusting
Ghiraybah is a type of shortbread cookie that is popular in the Arabian Gulf countries. These cookies are perfect for tea parties, gatherings, or as an afternoon snack. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
2.Sift the icing sugar into a mixing bowl and add the clarified butter.
3.Use a wooden spoon or a stand mixer with a paddle attachment on low to combine the two ingredients until smooth and creamy.
4.Gradually add the flour to the mix and continue stirring until the dough comes together.
5.Use your hands to shape balls of dough and flatten them into discs. Place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.
6.Add a slivered almond to the top of each cookie and bake the tray in the oven for around 20 minutes, checking occasionally. Keep an eye out for the edges turning golden brown.
7.Remove the tray from the oven and allow the cookies to cool down before sprinkling icing sugar over the top of each one.

PROS

These cookies will melt in your mouth and are perfect for a morning or afternoon tea.
They’re not overly sweet and have an amazing buttery flavor.
