• 2 prepared pie crusts | |
• 1/2 cup unsalted butter | |
• 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour | |
• 1/4 cup water | |
• 1/2 cup white sugar | |
• 1/2 cup brown sugar | |
• 1 teaspoon cinnamon | |
• 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg | |
• 6 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced |
1. | Preheat oven to 425°F. |
2. | Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg; bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer. |
3. | Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. |
4. | Bake for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 350°F. Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft. |
