1 lb granny smith apple
1/4 cup granulated sugar
4 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 lemon , zest of , finely grated
1 lb puff pastry
3 tablespoons marmalade
1/4 cup milk ( for brushing )
Apple Flory is a classic Scottish dessert that showcases the versatility and deliciousness of puff pastry. This sweet and crispy tart is filled with juicy slices of granny smith apples that are cooked in a cinnamon syrup and spread with tangy marmalade. Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 200°C (180°C fan) / 400°F (350°F fan).
2.Peel, core, and slice the apples.
3.In a pan, combine sliced apples, sugar, water, ground cinnamon, and lemon zest. Cook over medium heat for 6-7 minutes or until the apples are softened and the liquid has reduced to a syrup.
4.On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry to a thickness of about 3mm. Cut into 8 equal rectangles.
5.Spread the marmalade over each rectangle, leaving a 1cm border around the edges. Arrange the apple slices on top of the marmalade.
6.Brush the edges of the pastry with milk and fold them over the apples to form a border. Brush the pastry with the remaining milk.
7.Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed up.
8.Serve warm or cold, dusted with icing sugar.
