1 lb granny smith apple | |
1/4 cup granulated sugar | |
4 tablespoons water | |
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon | |
1/2 lemon , zest of , finely grated | |
1 lb puff pastry | |
3 tablespoons marmalade | |
1/4 cup milk ( for brushing ) |
1. | Core and thinly slice the apples. |
2. | In a saucepan, combine the sugar, water, cinnamon, and lemon zest. Heat until the sugar dissolves. |
3. | Add the apple slices and simmer for 5-10 minutes or until the apples are soft. |
4. | Roll out the puff pastry and cut into a circle. |
5. | Spread marmalade over the pastry circle. |
6. | Arrange the apple slices over the marmalade. |
7. | Brush the edges of the puff pastry with milk. |
8. | Bake at 400°F for 15-20 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown. |
9. | Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream. |
