1 lb granny smith apple
1/4 cup granulated sugar
4 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 lemon , zest of , finely grated
1 lb puff pastry
3 tablespoons marmalade
1/4 cup milk ( for brushing )

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
2.Peel, core, and slice the apples.
3.In a pan, heat sugar, water, cinnamon, and lemon zest over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
4.Add sliced apples to the pan and stir until coated.
5.Cook apples for 10-12 minutes until they are soft and caramelized.
6.Roll out the puff pastry and trim edges to create a rectangle.
7.Spread marmalade over the centre of the pastry.
8.Add the cooked apple slices on top of the marmalade.
9.Brush the edges of the pastry with milk.
10.Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until pastry is golden brown.
11.Serve hot or cold.
