Ingredients

1 lb granny smith apple
1/4 cup granulated sugar
4 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 lemon , zest of , finely grated
1 lb puff pastry
3 tablespoons marmalade
1/4 cup milk ( for brushing )
Apple Flory is a traditional Scottish dish that has been enjoyed for generations. This sweet and savory tart is made with fresh granny smith apples, cinnamon, and marmalade, all encased in a flaky puff pastry crust. The result is a delicious dessert that is perfect for any occasion.

Instructions

1.Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
2.Peel, core and slice the apples.
3.In a saucepan, combine the apples, sugar, water, cinnamon, and lemon zest. Cook over medium heat until the apples are soft, stirring occasionally.
4.Roll out the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut out two 12 inch circles.
5.Place one pastry round on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Spread the marmalade evenly on the pastry round leaving a 1 inch border.
6.Spread the cooked apple mixture on top of the marmalade.
7.Brush the remaining pastry round with milk and place it on top of the apples. Press the edges together to seal.
8.Brush the top with milk and cut a few slits to let steam escape.
9.Bake in preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
10.Serve warm or at room temperature.
