Ingredients

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup crisco vegetable shortening
1 egg yolk
1/2 cup whole milk , plus ( see instructions )
8 cups peeled sliced apples
3/4 cup white sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 cup lightly crushed corn flakes
1 egg white
1 cup powdered confectioners ' sugar
3 -4 tablespoons light cream
This Apple Danish 1965 is a classic recipe that is perfect for a weekend brunch or after-dinner delight. It is a traditional pastry consisting of flaky layers of pastry dough and a sweet apple filling that will have your taste buds begging for more. Instructions

1.Combine flour and salt in a large bowl.
2.Cut in shortening until mixture resembles coarse meal.
3.Beat egg yolk in a measuring cup and mix with enough milk to make 2/3 cup.
4.Add liquid to flour mixture and stir until dough forms.
5.Divide dough in half and roll out each half to fit a 10 x 15 inch jelly roll pan.
6.Mix together apples, sugar and cinnamon and spread over dough.
7.Sprinkle with crushed corn flakes.
8.Roll out remaining dough and place on top of apple mixture.
9.Beat egg white until frothy and brush over top crust.
10.Bake at 350°F for 40-45 minutes or until lightly browned.
11.Combine confectioners' sugar and cream to make icing and drizzle over warm Danish.
