Instructions

1.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2.Grease and flour a 9-inch cake pan.
3.In a mixing bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, then add the egg and mix well.
4.Sift together the flour, cloves, salt, nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, baking powder, and baking soda.
5.Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, alternating with the buttermilk, and mix well.
6.Fold in the cut-up dried prunes, chopped walnuts, and golden raisins.
7.Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
8.Let the cake cool completely before frosting.
9.For the frosting, combine the softened cream cheese, lemon rind, lemon juice, vanilla, salt, and powdered sugar in a mixing bowl and beat until creamy. Spread the frosting on the cooled cake and sprinkle with powdered sugar, if desired.
