The American Beautyberry Jelly With Shiso recipe is the perfect summer breakfast or afternoon snack. It is refreshing, sweet, and packed with flavor. Beautyberries are a native shrub in the United States, growing in the Southeastern and Mid-Atlantic regions. They have a deep purple color and an unusual taste that is similar to grape, but with a sour note. The shiso leaves used in this recipe add a subtle herbal note to the jelly and provide additional health benefits. This jelly recipe is vegan, gluten-free, and easy to make, making it a great recipe for all dietary needs.

Instructions

1.In a large stockpot, combine the shiso leaves, beautyberries, and water.
2.Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce the heat to a simmer for 20 minutes.
3.Strain the liquid through a fine-mesh sieve, pressing down on the solids to extract as much juice as possible.
4.Measure out 5 cups of the juice and pour it back into the stockpot.
5.Add the lemon juice and pectin to the pot, whisking thoroughly to combine.
6.Bring the mixture to a rolling boil, stirring constantly to prevent scorching.
