The cinnamon and cloves in the syrup give it a warm, comforting aroma and the brandy adds a touch of sophistication. Whether you're hosting a dinner party or just want something sweet to enjoy on a lazy afternoon, this almond-walnut baklava is sure to satisfy your cravings.

Instructions

.Preheat the oven to 350°F.
.Combine the sugar, water, cinnamon stick, and whole cloves in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to medium and let it simmer for about 20 minutes to create a syrup. Remove the cinnamon stick and cloves.
.In a separate bowl, mix together the honey and brandy. Set aside.
.In another bowl, mix together the almonds, walnuts, ground cinnamon, and breadcrumbs.
.Brush a 9x13-inch baking dish with melted butter.
.Open the phyllo pastry sheets and lay them out on a flat surface. Cover with a damp towel to prevent them from drying out. Using a sharp knife, cut the phyllo sheets to fit the baking dish.
.Place a layer of phyllo sheets at the bottom of the dish, brushing each layer with melted butter. Add a layer of the nut mixture on top of the phyllo sheets. Repeat the layers until you run out of ingredients.
.Once you've added the final layer of nuts, pour the honey and brandy mixture over the top.
.Bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
.Remove from the oven and allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.
.Cut the baklava into small diamond shapes and decorate with whole cloves on top.
